| A rare work in pencil by Susan. Cats are most active during the twilight hours of dawn and dusk. It is during those transitional times that the liminal light of the sun and moon is born on the edges of day and night.
Often serving as spiritual icons cats symbolize a connection to the unseen world. They are viewed as spirit guides or totems, carrying messages from the spirit world; often representing strength, courage and inner wisdom in many cultures.
In this piece Susan beautifully captures the single minded focus of a black panther or jaguar through it’s eyes, ever alert and staring back at you. The dark and light of the two majestic cats is suggestive of the balance that nature always seeks to create. The many moons and the early sun's rays create the movement and flow of the background. A single human eye is found in the breeze that blows across the barren landscape.
Susan uses layering, burnishing, feathering and interwoven textures to create the detailing in the piece.
This original work has been re-framed with a custom wood frame with a brushed-silver inner border . Archival double-matted with a suede bottom mat, and a paper top mat. Acid-free materials throughout and re-glazed with museum Conservation Clear, Tru-Vue, UV protective glass. Signed by Susan Seddon Boulet bottom-right. Dated 1984.
