Surrounded by images of numerous animals, a woman contemplates the egg in her hand, the symbol of the beginning of all life. Encircling her and forming her body and robe are beautifully rendered, intricately interwoven images of fallow deer, frog, turtle, birds, squirrels, dragonflies, a snake, owls, a monkey, a lizard, a fox like creature, fish, a swan, spiders and a hummingbird, all skillfully created by Susan using her sgraffito and ink resist techniques. A very elaborate, beautifully rich, early example of Susan’s much later anthropomorphic Shaman period imagery.

This original work has been re-framed with an antiqued, gilt, custom wood frame. Archival double-matted with suede top & bottom mats and accented with an antiqued copper fillet separating the two mats. Acid-free materials throughout and re-glazed with Museum Conservation, Tru-Vue, UV protective glass. Signed by Susan Seddon Boulet bottom-left. Dated Sep 73.
