This magical portrayal evokes warm memories of a child’s exciting discovery of the puzzling ocean sounds emanating from an elaborate shell, as she holds it to her ear. The young girls hair and garment morph into coral like structures, the details a result of Susan’s sgraffito technique. The eyes, (as they are drawn in many of these early works), often represented an inward looking spiritual journey. Beautiful color and detail.
This original work has been re-framed with an antiqued gilt and silvered, custom wood frame. Archival triple matted with suede bottom and middle mats and a linen top mat. Acid-free materials throughout and re-glazed with Conservation Clear, Tru-Vue, UV protective glass. Signed by Susan Seddon Boulet bottom-right. Dated Jan 73.
