"Woman With Orange"
Medium Date Framed Size Image Size
Acrylic on Canvas mid 1960s 21"H x 17"W 20"H x 16"W
From Michael Babcock: A unique acrylic on canvas, as there are no other known examples. I tend to think it might be from her time in Sao Paolo in the 1960s when she was experimenting with different mediums and substrates.

An introspective, warm and pensive piece; a window into the essence of Susan and her art throughout her career. This painting is the earliest example of the sgraffito technique that played an integral part in creating detail in most of the work she created through the 70s and 80s. The moon, that appears at least once in every piece Susan created throughout her career, is manifested here. In this post-impressionism influenced painting the lavender glow of the moon, moves through the cool night sky, illuminating the Woman with Orange.

Note: The condition of the painting is as originally painted. Any white flecks or lines that appear in the picture are a result of the lighting used in photographing the piece, reflecting off texture in the painting.

This original work remains in it’s original, wood, “Floater” frame. Unglazed. Signed in sgraffito by Susan Seddon-Boulet, lower-right. Undated.
